Probably one of the most rewarding sea kayaking trips in Tasmania. It is very unusual not be able to paddle in this region. From Coles Bay it is an easy paddle to Cooks Corner or Bryans Beach where there are very good campsites. On Schouten Island Moreys Bay is a good spot. The coast in this area has lots of rugged cliffs, sea caves and secluded beaches. Sea Eagles and waterfalls add to the interest.
There is plenty of walking if you want to stretch your legs. The outside of Freycinet and Schouten can be very rough in strong easterlies but then you can always paddle on the western side of the peninsula in these conditions. Highly recommended for a leisurely paddle. I have paddled with students to Schouten Island, that's how easy it can be.
